Israel and Israeli club sides are European ???
This is political nonsense especially when their neighbours like Jordan and Syria are part of the Asian con-federation.

How did this happen ?

Re: Israel and Israeli club sides are European ???
could've been Luch Energia Vladivostok - they finished 7th in the Russian league in 2006 and the article was probably about them, when they looked like they could qualify for the UEFA cup.

GPH, can't remember the name of the Russian club, IIRC it was a town near Vladivostok.

Re: Israel and Israeli club sides are European ???
how is Andorra obscure?

There's a club called Endessa Andorra who play in the lower leagues in Spain, but they're from a town in Spain called Andorra, rather than the principality of Andorra. They have hammers on their club crest.

That's obscure...

WHUFC - current Kazakh league leaders, Kairat, are in Almedy, almost midway between London and Tokyo.

If we get in the Champions' League, what's the odds we'll get them in our group (luckily, they will only get into the qualifying rounds if they win domestically)?

I think you need to have a lie down.

Re: Israel and Israeli club sides are European ???
It's not pedantry when pointing out important parts of your argument that are untrue, yes, you weren't the first one to point out why Israel competes in UEFA, I and I suspect many others knew the reason why, so you're not telling us anything new

Re: Israel and Israeli club sides are European ???
Yes I know.

FC, I'm not, just threw Andora in there as well as they are a bit obscure.

Most of Turkey for example is in Asia.

I think I am the only one who has stated the real reason why Israel is included as well so why the pedantry?

Re: Israel and Israeli club sides are European ???
The portion of the Ural River which is internationally recognised as the border between Europe and Asia flows through Western Kazakhstan. Therefore, a piece of Kazakhstan, albeit a small piece of a very large country, is in Europe and the distance between Kazakhstan and Europe is 0 (miles, kilometres, inches, or whatever unit you want to use).

Re: Israel and Israeli club sides are European ???
13, but that's because of the split of the USSR, there was one Russian club that almost qualified for Europe, (maybe they even did), that was FAR closer to Japan, than any of the teams they would've met.

UEFA has fuck all to with the EU, why are you bringing that into it?

Re: Israel and Israeli club sides are European ???
Not moving goalposts just stating that many UEFA nations are either not in the EU or are also in Asia.
I did state the real reason why Israel is included.

Also Kazakhstan is as far or further away from Europe as Israel, Syria and quite a few other middle eastern or asian countries.

By the way, parts of Turkey, namely Eastern Thrace which includes Istanbul, is most definitely in Europe

Switzerland and Norway aren't in the EU either.

UEFA doesn't follow what countries are in the EU*

I think a lot people would be cancelling their UKIP memberships if it meant we weren't allowed to play in the Euros.

Re: Israel and Israeli club sides are European ???
Turkey, Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijhan, Armenia, Andora etc etc are not in Europe either.

End of thread.

Is what you said, now you're moving the goalposts and bringing the EU into it, UEFA doesn't follow what countries are in Europe, otherwise Turkey wouldn't be in it

Go and have a long lie down
